My first American beer that wasn’t complete garbage. Light golden in colour and very little head (may just be the one I had). Aroma of citrus and lots of hops with a hint of what could be honey. Taste had quite a bit of hops again, some citrus and some spices. Wasn’t so much hops that it was all bitter, but was definitely the dominate taste. Finish was a little dry (porbably from so many hops) and fairly smooth. Gave me hope for American beers, but I’m still waiting for something that I really like from the USA.

Snagged a big bottle of this while I was back home in Texas. It pours a golden/copper color with a nicely forming, big, lingering head. Big grapefruit/citrus hop notes in the aroma with a hint of malt balancing it out. There is a big, bold hoppy bite in the mouth, though balanced by some light maltiness and finishing with piney hops. Pretty hoppy compared to the British pale ales i’ve tasted, but then I remember that this is an American brew... a rather iconic one at that!

Yellowish pour with white head. Light, spicey hop aroma. Flavor is kind of tangy hops. Nice mouthfeel. Certainly a good session ale. But, i feel like there might be an age issue with the bottle. Anchor probably needs to figure out how to get all these old six packs out of the market. . .

Couldn’t find anything particularly unique about this beer. cloudy, frothy and medium mouth-feel, but, overall, somewhat disappointing.

12-oz bottle. Citrus aroma, but something else, maybe a little like wet bark. Bright light golden. A substantial head that dissipates slowly. Plenty of lacing. Very lightly sweet. Moderate bitterness, then more bitterness as the beer settles in your mouth. A touch sour, too. Very pleasant on the palate. Light bodied, but creamy. Nothing strange here. Typical in a good way. Very drinkable, too. For the cost, a very nice sessionable ale.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is grassy malts with hints of citrus and spicy hop. Flavor is light malts with citrusy and piney hops, but not much in the finish. It’s ok but definitely not a great APA.

What a nice surprise, I buy a sixer of their special ale, and not only did i not realize that i bought last years (’08) and there was a liberty ale in the pack! really nice IPA and it must have been an eye opener when first brewed in ’75, and its still great, not going to blow your hair back, but a really nice taste and flavor, great body, maybe could use a little makeover for the 35th anniversary.
