| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Bottle cellared since March 2009 - Pours ruby red with a khaki head that’s gone quickly. Smell is caramel with a bit of cherry. It’s pretty boozy with a bit of hoppiness. Taste is tons of malt, sweet with caramel notes. Finishes a bit dry and bitter, but it feels like that’s more roasty bitterness than hop bitterness. Full bodied with huge legs--this sucker coats the glass. Glad to have finally tried this legend and may have to pick up some more. robertjm (403), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 25, 2009 First comment is TWELVE OUNCE BOTTLES!!! When did they finally start putting this in the same bottles as all their others? Pours a tight white foam head. Body is a dark ruby color. Aroma has more hop character than I used to remember it having. Flavors of caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Definately leans towards the malt side of the barley-wine spectrum. Lots more closer to Old Nick than to Bigfoot!! Warming on palate after a minute, or two with no risidual bitterness. andersand (351), Malmö, Sweden
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Very nice and ageable US barleywine, deep copper coloured with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, estery with nice deep fruity caramell malt in the background. Flavour is similar but with some age the raisins and chewy caramell really shines through in a lovely way. Very sophisticated and ageable for a american barleywine. Body is rather thick, slightly sticky which works well for the style. madmitch76 (602), , Essex, England

No bitterness. Soft and frothy in the mouth. Slight fruit in the finish. ChrisThomson (394), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Bottle at Volo. Nice beer! Pours dark, reddish brown with small amount of white head. Caramel malts, cinnamon, plums, with alcohol coming through a bit. joeneugs (320), Livermore, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Pours red/orange/brown with a thin, disappearing orange head. The aroma is apple, banana, orange, plum, and caramel. The flavor is the same with a grassy, spicy, alcoholic bitterness to it. Kind of a boring barleywine. BigBeer45 (690), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Bottle,
has a muddy cloudy brown pour that is a ruby when held up to a light, made a off-white and tan bubbled head,
left a good amount of lacing on the glass,
aromas of cinnamon-caramel, chocolate, roasted malt candy, brown sugar sweetness and a faint fruit fragrance came from the glass, also, there was sweet alcohol in the background,
sip gave flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, dark sugar sweetness, and I felt some alcohol warmth on the palate,
mouth feel is more than medium and has a touch of creaminess,
this beer could have been a little fuller on the palate, otherwise a nice Barley Wine.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Deep ambery, maroon-brown color with medium, airy, fizzy off-white head that leaves a bit lace. Aroma of blood-orange, molasses or maple syrup and lots of toasted malt of course.
The flavor is full of fruity, oily esters like fermented walnuts, alcoholic figs, dried peach, spicy, caramelized banana with silght woody, tobacco notes. I don’t have too much experience in whiskeys, but it has some kind of whiskey complexity to it as well.
It has a very chewy mouthfeel, very nice oily, thick feel on the palate without being heavy.
It’s even more complex than a lot famous strong belgian ales that i’ve had so far. A wonderful, magically complex ale. My very first in the style. Big thanks to armando629, and Only rare beers for bring american craft beers to eastern europe.
