Jun 24, 2009 What a Legend. A beer way, way ahead of its time. Imagine a barleywine style ale created in 1976 that matches or surpasses most bw’s of today! I had this beer for years, most noteably at the brewery fresh from the source as well as at the Dayton Ale Fest where my brother Steve and I took much of the Old Foghorn surplus home with us. This is a dark amber colored beer with a very small almost nonexistent head and an aroma of sweet fruit. It is big and malty with fruit and finishes dry and powerful. A wonderful beer that warms the soul in so many ways. What memories this beer creates. This one is for Steve.....Slainte.

Jun 21, 2009 poured golden orange with a white head that faded to give good lacing. smells like spices, sweet malt, and fruit. taste about the same. very good barley wine but not as strong as most. leaves a good sweet sticky aftertaste.

Jun 16, 2009 Rich orange-brown with little head. Sweet, spicy aroma, with noticeable alcohol. Flavor is pretty sweet, strong alcohol and slight bitter finish.

Jun 15, 2009 On-tap. Bishops Arms Järntorget. Gothenburg. Amber/brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Sweet malt, fruit, lighter american hops, spices and alcohol. Taste: Sweet and fruity, with a backbone of american hops, also some alcohol. One of the more malty american barley wines I have tried. Nice.

Jun 14, 2009 Great barley wine. Pours dark amber with medium tan head. Aromas of orange and red fruit. Tastes of roasted raspberries and malts while slightly spicy. Smooth finish and a very approachable barley wine.

Jun 12, 2009 Draft at Bishops Arms - Clear amber beer with a small head. Aroma is sweet with notes of oranges, fruits, spices and black currant. Flavor is very sweet with hints of overripe fruit and spices. Very full-bodied and sweet but not very bitter compared to most American Barley Wines. Very good!

Jun 8, 2009 Bright red, lightly frothy ale. Very bright malty aromas. Strawberry/raspberry tartness followed by a thick honey sweetness. Very rich, with a real hoppy dryness that makes the mouth clench up. Pink/red fruit flavours. The finish is very, very long and quite intense. Heavy fruits and brandy booziness. Sort of like a light Christmas pudding. Pretty tasty, it would probably rock my world in winter.
