Have had new bottles and old one, recently a nip, not sure of the year. Aroma is nice and sweet, semi fruity and a a little rich. Nice body. Taste is smooth and mostly sweet with a little bitterness balancing it out even the aged ones. For a large quantity barleywine I think it is very good.

bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a thin tan head which dissipated. Nose of banana, plum, brown sugar, raisins and caramel malt. Taste is raisins and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is medium with a little syrupy feel. Not bad.

I enjoyed this barley wine at beerfest. It was the only barley wine there so I was anxious to try it. Top 5 at beerfest in Orlando.

THOUGHTS: Had the small beer a week before I tried this one. A very easy drinking barley wine. I loved that fact that there were just enough hops to keep it from becoming cloying. Nice but it did eventually get a little cloying. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark, orangey red with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was heavy caramel malt, light cookie, light to moderate hops, grape, apple, cherry, toffee, brown sugar, alcohol, that magic barley wine smell and maybe some red wine. The initial flavor was acidic and very sweet; while the finish was sweet and lightly bitter with a long duration. There was caramel malt, apple, raisin, slight alcohol, then a little hops at the end. There was a little wood too, after it warmed up a little more. The medium to full body was a little oily then sort of syrupy then dry with fizzy carbonation and a very light astringent and very light alcoholic finish.

Dark amber, red hue, no head to speak of. Sweet maple syrup aroma. English barleywine style, malty, low carbonation, syrupy but with a clean finish. Very full palate. Alcohol more apparent as it warms. A great American version of an English style

Excellent barleywine. Pours a nice red and slight brown color with an off-white head. Nose is alcohol, brandy, ripe fruit, plum, sugary fruit, caramel, and an afterthought of hops. Flavor is level-headed malt, brandy, sugar, plum, fruits, and lots of balance. Medium-bodied- flavor is smooth as hell. Not too sweet, and not too bitter. Exceptional barleywine.

Très bonne barley wine de couleur cuivre et ayant une mousse bien persistante. Des arômes de boisé, de prunes, d’alcool et de malt se font sentir. Elle est intense et corsée et offre une finale forte d’alcool. Bien réconfortante!!!
