Nose is vanilla, chocolate and citrus. Tastes like it smells with an added dimension of fruity esters, berries and almonds. Phenols are present but are kept in check for the most part... Body is full, CARBONATION JUST right. A well-done balanced english style barleywine... smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 10, 2008 12oz bottle. Deep red-brown with a lasting head. Fruity, toffee, candy, jelly... nice aroma. Sweet, caramel, intense fruitiness, light hops, light bitterness This is really tasty, and much more drinkable than most barley wines that I’ve had. Full bodied, but not sticky or too chewy like some. Smooth to the max. malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Sweet cherry port aroma. Sweet brown sugar ripe cherry with medium bitterness. Medium-full body and low carbo. Nice sipper. I’ve loved this one for a long time, but now I prefer a more aromatic and hop flavored barleywine like Bigfoot or Old Ruffian. azlondon (667), Fribourg, Switzerland
