Aroma is peat, dark fruits, brown sugar, and sweet malts. Taste is about the same as the aroma, with a nice clean and refined palate. The alcohol is hidden well but you can feel it burn and warm your stomach. Good stuff. douglas88 (1602), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a bright amber color with a tiny white head. The aroma was rich sweet fruits and candy. The taste was a sweet concoction of dark fruits, mostly plum, some brown sugar and a sweet coffee cake finish. A thin mouthfeel and full flavors. Easy to drink and not really warm at all. jjuf1853 (471), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

Aroma is a mixture of sweet burnt sugar and resiny pine. Flavor includes raisins. Alcohol is fairly noticeable in this one. Overall a nice barleywine style. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Big malty, sweet, fruity, caramel, and vinous resin aroma notes. Tasty amber hue. This is a taste explosion. Malty ripe fruit, slight raisin, big caramel and burned caramel flavors with the hop resins barely peaking through complete the flavor profile. Thick viscous mouthfeel, perfect for a barley wine. Very clean finish. Overall this is a wonderful bier. Comprable to a good trapist ale in it’s complexity (not taste). Complex but not confusing, very straight forward drinking BW. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Ruby with a low head. Strong sweet aroma of caramel, citrus and pine. The flavours are sweet and malty to begin with, containing raisin and overripe fruits. Then the bitterness starts kicking in and ends this full bodied barley wine in a fine fashion. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Bottle: poured deep dark red color. Small off white head. Wonderful aroma of caramel, malt and molasses. Fine barley wine, delicious sweet malty flavor that is balanced with a slight dryness, but lets the sweetness linger. This seems more traditional and is not infused with hops (although nothing is wrong with that). BigBang (211), Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2008 Started out nicely. Aroma and appearance the beer’s strongest points. Nice amber-red color with small but consistent head. Flavor is where I was not that impressed. Very sweet brew - much moreso than I prefer, even for a barley wine. Predominant flavor seemed to be raisin and dried currant. Not much more to it than that. There are many superior barley wines out there and I would not likely try again.
