| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2008 12oz bottle-pours a retaining tan head and cloudy brown/copper color. Aroma is lots of medium malt-molasses, wood/spices, alcohol-which isn’t hidden at all, sweet dark fruit-raisin, some sharpness. Taste is medium malt-molasses, wood/spices, sweet dark fruit-raisin, some sharpness/bite from the hops, yeast. OK effervescence. Finish is semi dry. Comes across as a bit too big for me, but still a nice sipping, complex beer. 3.2 OK, quite a bit nicer when its cellar temperature (vs. 36 ish) 3.7 cyrenaica (440), Milton, Ontario, Canada

I tried this beer on June 6, 2008 at "The Beer Bistro" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a murky brown colour with a thin white head. The aroma was sweet malt, caramel, rum, and alcohol. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sickingly sweet with the alcohol very prevalent. There was some malty and caramel hints as well. alafito (334), tijuana, Mexico
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2008 A very sweet and easy drinking barley wine, tasted of caramel, butterscotch and a bit of raisins. Hoppy aftertaste with a bit of anise too. Nice head and retention. No alcohol burn or tastes at all. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Anchor Old Foghorn Ale is a very nice reddish burgundy with an initial but quickly disappearing head. The aroma is fresh with very sweet aromas including licorice, berries and sweet fruits. The taste is full of malt with very sweet notes. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a lovely mahogany color with a slight, yet persistant light orange head. Strong, buttery toffee flavors with a tea-like after taste. Some fig notes, too. Pretty complex flavor overall. Warmed me up. More as an after dinner drink thn something you’d want to pair food with. bembelembe (153), Zagreb, Croatia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | May 28, 2008 Browny-reddish color. Very intense, and complex flavour. More like dessert drink. Caramel sweet and alcoholy dominant flavour with fruity flavour (cherry). Bitter sweet and spicy aftertaste. Medium-high carbonated. Not my type of beer but quite interesting.
