Flavor dominated by syrupy caramel malt. Finishes with little hop bitterness. Sweetness a bit too intense. Full bodied with somewhat oily & smooth palate.Big and warming, but a little too one dimensional. (8 4 8 4 16)
33cl, BBE aug/09. Dark beautiful ruby, tiny beige head. Strongly syrupy nose, some vanilla and fruitiness, raspberry liqueur. Simple flavor, suryp, berry wine, dried fruitiness, rowanberry, a bit stuffy herbs, moderate bitterness and some alcoho. Full bodied, smooth sticky palate. Nothing outstanding, just another good BW. I caught the end of the barrel (on the house) which I am sure had an affect.Poured a dark amber with slight head. The malt seemed to overpower the sweetness/alcohol. Very nice beer. Nice caramel with a sweet candy-like finish. Hides the alcohol really well. Delicious. travita (1960), Frisco, Texas, USA

Although not unpleasant, the extra kick sticks around. I would stay in the one to two range. Dickinsonbeer (3500), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2008 12 oz bottle 07. Pours a clear medium to deep amber with a nice lasting fluffy beige head and sticky lace. Aroma is tons of toffee, and crystal malts with a nice citrusy hop kick, and a typical barleywine aroma I get from Bigfoot, and Old Ho- sometimes- almost a musty earthines with some aged gouda. Flavor is insanely sharp with dark crystal malts almost a burning corn syrup and caramel- with molasses as well. More burnt marshmellow and candi sugar, tons of very sharp dried dark fruits with a nice c-hop bitterness- fairly clean with a slight astringent finish. After all these years, still a solid barleywine. wickedpete (629), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

Bottle code 6NG, which I translate as November 7, 2006 (or is it 1996?!?). Pour is a murky brown with a creamy beige head that quickly fades to nothing more than a mist on top. Aromas of sugary candies, caramel and toffee, and perhaps peanut brittle. Flavor is sweet and fruity. Alcohol is only lightly noticeable in the finish.
