Bottle: pours a slightly cloudy, dark orangish-red, with a quickly disappearing head, slight aroma of cherries, taste is dark fruits, malty, with a dry and slightly bitter finish. I think I am starting to come around to this style as in the past I might not have given a beer like this as good of a rating.

The aroma is very sweet with yeast, bread, and fruit. The appearance is red amber with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s OK.

(bottle thanks OSLO) Pours reddish brown with a nice light tan head. Aroma is very strong initially of cherry hard candy, alcohol, and as it warms some toasted nut quality (pecan pie) and a light vanilla character emerge. The taste is complex with light chocolate, strawberry jam, caramel, toffee, and a lightly bitter finish. Thick mouthfeel, this is a really good barleywine.

[Bottle] Pours deep red with a decent, very light-tan head. Aroma is quite nice--light nuttiness, a little alcohol, some cherry (after Guerde pointed it out), and a hint of banana when I swirl it. Taste is fairly sweet and fruity with more malt than the aroma and a good deal of chocolate towards the finish. Medium-thick mouthfeel and smooth. A very solid barley wine.

Pours caramel brown with very little carbonation, as one would expect in a beer this fully fermented. Very strong alcohol aroma with hints of dried fruits and roasted malts. This is a complex beer. Very sweet and malty on the palate. Malty flavor with a slight hop bitterness. It is sweet with flavors of caramel and raisins and dried cherries. This is an extremely nice beer. I’m aging a couple of bottles to enjoy over the next couple of years.

Bottle. Had an 05 alongside an 07. The differences were subtle. Pours a reddish brown with little head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a ripe fruitiness, the 07 seemed to have a more woody hop like bite to the nose. Flavor was malty and hoppy with a light sweetness seemed to be derived from plum, raisin, dates, and some citrus. As it warmed it developed further and improved in character. Finish was lightly bitter (the newer bottle seemed more so) which offset the initial fruity sweetness nicely and left with warm alcohol and malt. Wonderful and after the two I was plesantly intoxicated.

12 oz bottle. The beverage pours a amber color. Aroma is caramel, malt, and alcohol. Flavor is a caramel, sweet one with a touch of cherry in there as well. The alcohol is more subtle than I thought it would be - leading this barley wine to being a much more easy to drink one than most.
