Bottle. Had an 05 alongside an 07. The differences were subtle. Pours a reddish brown with little head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a ripe fruitiness, the 07 seemed to have a more woody hop like bite to the nose. Flavor was malty and hoppy with a light sweetness seemed to be derived from plum, raisin, dates, and some citrus. As it warmed it developed further and improved in character. Finish was lightly bitter (the newer bottle seemed more so) which offset the initial fruity sweetness nicely and left with warm alcohol and malt. Wonderful and after the two I was plesantly intoxicated.

12 oz bottle. The beverage pours a amber color. Aroma is caramel, malt, and alcohol. Flavor is a caramel, sweet one with a touch of cherry in there as well. The alcohol is more subtle than I thought it would be - leading this barley wine to being a much more easy to drink one than most.

Sept. 2006 - Poured crystal clear caramel brown with a tinge of red, nice "swiss cheese" (with holes) head, nice lacing. Aroma was rich caramel and some floral hoppiness. Cold, this is one bad beer. Taste was too sweet and mouthfeel felt really flat, almost like there was something wrong with the bottle. After it warmed, however, it transformed into a nice beer. Sweet caramel with a touch of toffee and cherry, with a good balance of bittering hops. There was some "oomph" missing to make this a really special beer, though.

Thanks Harry. Dark Orange colour, small head, sweet mixed fruit aroma with pepper and malt in there too. Flavour is bitter with malt and fudge in there too. Dry finish. Nice.

Bottle. A beautiful deep red/brown color, with very little head. Strong, sweet, malty aroma with notes of caramel, fruits and hops. The full, sweet and malty taste leaves an oily and a bit tacky feel to the mouth with a rich hoppy aftertaste. You can’t really taste the alcohol from under all the malty sweetness. This one is definately a potential barley wine, it’s interesting, complex and still easy to drink. I love it.

Bottle. Apparently, the brewer was in a generous mood, and filled the bottle to within about a quarter of an inch from the top. Pours clear dark copper with a lacy off-white head. Fruit and citrus nose with a pile of caramel. This beer actually smells chewy. Creamy medium body and light carbonation. Taste of citrus, fruitcake, toffee. Warm finish with a touch of pine peering out from underneath a blanket of malt.

Superb beer, I got alittle dizzy because of it, but the malty taste and nice bubbly tast mad eit exquisit. THe greasy top of it was not a bad thing at all. I liked the colour and the after taste.
