From tap@Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Low, dense, beige cream head. Brownish-red body color, brilliant clarity. Rich, delicate sweet caramel aroma. Quite vinous. Some plummy fruitiness, and a bold fruity, floral and light renious hoppiness. Big malt body, with a refined sweetness, and lots of caramel and molasses. A generous amount of earthy, fruity and slight peppery hops is there to balance. Some tinned dark fruits as well. Thick, chewy muthfeel. Sweet malty, distinctly hoppy finish. A great piece of work.

12oz bottle from Orland Park Binny’s single rack. Pours dark brownish amber with off-white head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, brown sugar, sweet malts, dark fruits and booze. Flavor is sweet malt, brown sugar, toffee, dark fruits, some hops and a touch of booze. A little coying sweetness buy mouthfeel and carbonation are solid. Overall a pretty good BW.

Pours a nearly opaque walnut with ruby hues and a small head that quickly dissipates. Super sweet aroma with dark fruit, cherries, roasted malt, light floral hops. The flavor is very fruity, namely cherry and dates, but also toffee, and caramel. Some chocolate as it warms. Pretty sweet all around, but has a bit of bitterness and alcohol on the finish. I was more than pleased with this. I really didn’t expect this to be so fruity and complex. Reminds me of a less complicated quad.

Sampled at another monday night football tasting over at scottyp’s. Sampled blind with 6 others. All poured a clear amber red. Not really a standout, but does have more fruitiness than the others. Red cherry pie and sweet vanilla.

Pours a dark amber/light chestnut brown color with a thin white foamy head that immediately fades into nothingness with not trace of lacing. Strong alcohol aroma with a nice leathery malt presence as well as hints of dark fruit, cherry, pear strawberry and grape. I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of fruit I’m picking up. Nice balanced with sweet alcohol and earthy malts. Pretty sweet with the fruit notes from the aroma coming into play. Nice hop presence which is severely lacking in many examples of this style. Hints of vanilla, caramel, cherry, grape and other light fruit with a slight alcohol warmth in the finish.
