L’arrière goût est long, très long...

Has strong hints of caramel, raisins, spice, and dark fruits. Finishes clean and sweet on the tongue. Has a nice balance of carbonation and alcohol. Very easy to drink. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Updated: Jul 18, 2008I have come to appreciate Barleywine Style brews, and this was a solid offering right down the middle. There wasn’t much more to it than expected. That being said, there was absolutely nothing at all wrong with it. It looked, smelled, tasted, mouthfelt, (is that a word?) and finished like a solid Barleywine. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours cloudy copper in color with brown head. Sweet and floral hoppy aroma. Taste of malty, caramel and hints of licorice with dry and licorice finish. Nephilium (557), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2007 Standard dark fruit aroma and sugars on this. The color is a beautiful dark red, with just a ring of tan head clinging to the sides of the glass. A bit sweeter then my tastes in barleywines run. Strong tastes of dark fruits with a hint of brown sugar and caramel. A good sample of an English-style barleywine. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2007 Good looking rustic pour. This is the first barley wine I’ve has that has such a berry aroma and flavor. Strawberry, raspberry, and some caramel. A dry malty finish. Hardly any heat and smooth for such a strong ale. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA
