bottle on 4/11/08. red/deep golden color. Aromas of hops and fruits. Nice body and character... very big barleywine... huge on the palate, full of fruits and hops.... A wonderful aftertaste that lingers a bit to your delight. Very good barley wine. I would like to see how it ages...

Stubby bottle. This pours a muddy, ruddy brown with a reddish titl and barely a sparkle of a fizzy head. The aroma is sweet and fruity, with much less of a cooked essence than I’d expect from a barleywine. As I start to sip, I get a bit more of a steeped sugar sense, this coming off like a roasted apples. As it warms the alcohol also starts to making more of its warming presence known. A moderate but quite drinkable strong ale. (#3067, 8/28/2007)

I was expecting more from this beer. Warm mouthfeel...dark fruits and sweet toffee. Wonderful initial flavor, then disappointingly moves towards alcohol tinged finish.

bottle from mcox90: pours a crimson brown colour with nothin but a tan line around the edge of the glass for a head. aroma of toffee and caramel, hops, breadiness. fresh fruit (plums) mingeling with dark fruits raisins and figs. flavour is chewy adn toffee with wonderful breadiness and dark fruits and just a touch of the fresh plum from the nose. and excellent barley wine.

6-pack from Brewers World, Dumont, NJ...bottle pours iced-tea brown with a tiny tan head that lasted only a few seconds...smell of plum, molasses, fig...taste is sweet, malty, with dark fruits...very smooth mouth feel with a hint of alcohol at the back of the throat...very low carbonation...I really enjoyed this one...I agree with tgncc in that it’s a bit pricey but at least I’ll enjoy the next 5.

(Tap) Pours a deep mahogany color with a sparkling appearance and little head. Aroma of dark fruits and brown sugar. Malty, with a nice caramel and toffee backbone. Sticky and sweet, with a decent amount of alcohol warming as well. A decent barleywine, but a little too sweet for my tastes.
