Just the right amount of everything: flavor, bitterness, aftertaste and all the interesting mini flavors that barley wines have. Radek Kliber (3962), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance: deep clear amber look, mid light rocky top, tanned sides. Nose: thick blanket of malty sweetness. Dry alcohol to balance, straight with sense of being solid 7+ Flavor/Palate : Good, straight clean brew. Simple yet well made. Plenty of clean malts, boozy alcohol all together well paired. Solid Barley Wine.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 10, 2009 Bought at a bar that was far to cold. Needed some warming and this was the right choice. A deep red orange color with a surprising amount of white head for such a still beer. Smell was of orange at first but gave way to a great malt and grain aroma. That malt was part of the taste but backed up by some hoppy spice and alcohol flavor. A good barley wine for how not overdone it is. punkska101 (110), Chambly, Quebec, Canada

This one is dense but still digestive. At first caramel take you then fallows molasses all well combines with great bitter finish. The body is full and carbonation is soft. arrogantb (712), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 31, 2009 Considering this is America’s first barleywine it really sets a high standard. Ruby-red color, minimal to no head, and a sweet luscious smell of fruits and candies. Flavors of candy, sour apples which are kinda green (actetlyaldehyde ?), good but green with some hoppy bitterness. This is a sipping beer but it is good. It reminds me of Bigfoot but I prefer Bigfoot. I would like to cellar this beer and see how it changes.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Big shaving cream head, lots of bubbles within. Murky but glassy cherry red.
The aroma is musty, gritty and heavy on gritty, grainy barley. It doesn’t really escape the snifter much.
The flavor is hefty and slightly sour barley, combined with dates, raisin, grapes. Some dark cherry; both sweet and sour. A touch of honey. Some white wine sweetness and red wine depth.
Feels thick, slick, oily, buttery. A big, hefty beer. Smooth but heavily sweet and sour. Nihon (240), Vernon, Connecticut, USA
