Ruby-red color, minimal to no head, and a sweet luscious smell of fruits and candies. Flavors of candy, sour apples which are kinda green (actetlyaldehyde ?), good but green with some hoppy bitterness. This is a sipping beer but it is good. It reminds me of Bigfoot but I prefer Bigfoot. I would like to cellar this beer and see how it changes.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Big shaving cream head, lots of bubbles within. Murky but glassy cherry red.
The aroma is musty, gritty and heavy on gritty, grainy barley. It doesn’t really escape the snifter much.
The flavor is hefty and slightly sour barley, combined with dates, raisin, grapes. Some dark cherry; both sweet and sour. A touch of honey. Some white wine sweetness and red wine depth.
Feels thick, slick, oily, buttery. A big, hefty beer. Smooth but heavily sweet and sour. Nihon (240), Vernon, Connecticut, USA

Well balanced flavor of alcohol, smoked walnuts, and sweet caramel malts. Medium/heavy bodied, velvety mouthfeel. bedainedebiere (292), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2009 9,4% ABV. I paid a whole lot of money to bring that upnorth. Cinnamon, clove and alchoolic aroma. Invasive spicyness, sweetness and boozyness definitely make this ale a sipper. I liked this one more and more as my tastebuds got used to this intensity and as the brew warmed up. Good and enjoyable but but but... Spicyness? Somewhat tastes like an heavy christmas ale? Yeah, that might be it... Bamos (19), Florida, USA

Flavor of pie crust and insanely rampant sugar. Holy sugar! Unpleasantly sweet, ridiculously cloying. Drainpour. esjaygee (1578), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA

Smooth with low carbonation it is somewhat sticky. Warming effects are pretty noticeable, pretty solid barley wine. sfhodense (575), Odense NØ, Denmark
