Dark amber color with a light tan head. Strong malty sweet, vinous smell. Med. body. Taste is malty sweet caramel with pit fruits and spicy yeast, with a nice hop/alcohol tang to finish. Very drinkable. 81505

Bottle, picked up at Bellingers Jet Garage, Grove Nr Wantage,Oxon, consumed 06-10-08 Pours brown but a bit ruby reddish as well, white head, looks good. Some dark sticky fruits on the nose, predominantly figs and dates but also some raisins, bit Christmassy I suppose. Taste is sweet, malty and those dark fruits show again but backed up with a big dose of alcohol, really quite nice but not as good as I expected.

12oz bottle, pours a rich copper color with frothy white head. Aroma of strong caramel malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, and slight hops. Taste of sweet, strong malt, hops, and fruit. Rich mouthfeel, with alcohol. Good barley wine.

Pours dark copper with off white head. Aromas of caramel, ripe fruit, licorice, sugar and some alcohol. Sweet malty flavors of caramel, toffee and ripe fruits. Hops are mild. Full body with mild carbonation and a sticky, syrupy mouthfeel. A very good barley wine.

(Bottle, BBE Apr 06, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2008-09-27) Amber. Clear. Hardly any head. Lots of malts and some raisin in nose. Full bodied palate with little carbonation. Malts, raisin, some bitterness, sweetness and tiny bit of liquorice in taste. Long lasting aftertaste with malts, raisin and light bitterness.

I had this before but forgot since it was a while back in time. This is a tightly textured brew with caramalized fermented fruits, hops, and some mild chocolate... Appearance is a dark red almost clear ruby with a strong head that settles to a nice layer of effers... if you swirl the glass it kicks up the hops, if you let it sit the malts predominate with strong yeast esters, candied fruits some chocolate malts... palate is full, but I would like to have some more depth, just to sit there on the tongue for a long time... overall, a nice one, I just wish the flavor had some more distance along with a longer finish.
