Clear copper, with a small short lived head. Sweet, vinous aroma. Medium body, caramel, brown sugar, port wine, and citrus flavors. Finish is a little on the sweet side, but dries up a bit after a few seconds.

Aug 30, 2008 Dark copper red with barely no head but for a little creamy fast disappearing one inch tan one. Aroma of berries, caramel, with a slight port-like note in the end. Quite a full-bodied sipping beer, round and malty.

Aug 28, 2008 (boltle aged ~6mo? In fridge coded 8JH): Pours an unmurky brown body, fizzy. Good-sized head, off-white & diminishing. Malty sweet aroma, a little bit of alcohol in the nose. Not very aromatic. Malty, syrupy sweet taste. Malty. Dark fruit taste, similar to a Belgian Strong. Bitter, but not grapefruity. Good for sipping and as it warms up.

Aug 28, 2008 Blood red color with a small eggshell head. Aroma is roasted malt, brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruit. Flavor matches and hides the 9% ABV well. Alcohol isn’t sharp but warms. A very well crafted beer. Love that this one is on the shelf in AZ.

Aug 26, 2008 Draught at the brewery, August 2008. This is a very sweet Barley Wine. Tasted dark sugars, caramel, dark grapes. Alcohol is very well masked. This is the most accessible barley wine I have tried to date.

Aug 23, 2008 12 oz. bottle. 2008. Deep mahogany headless mellow monster. Toffee, caramel, biscuit aroma. More of the same in flavor with a silky earthiness and moderate alcohol stance. Solid mouthfeel.
