Poured out of 12 oz. bottle, bought at A & J Liquor in Covina, CA 11/10/03. 2001 Vintage. Dark brown, opaque, with slight orange highlights. Uniform, dark tan head that dissipates with decent lacing. Cinnamon and nutmeg aromas. Slight scent like a sweet whisky-- Jack Daniels. Slightly cinnamon-pretzelly in flavor with muted but present sweetness. Medium-thin mouthfeel with creamy malt and dark bitter malt flavors. Slightly sweet, and flavorful with spices. Finish is very drying from spices and malt. Long but not that multi-dimensional. Super sweet aroma-malts, spice, carrot cake and brown sugar. Start of flavor was very sour. I dont know if this was from aging or what, but it was sour. mellowed to a sweet coffee/nutty finish. I dont know if this is the proper profile for a 1998 OSA aged bottle because i had nothing to compare it to. I think for a 5 year old bottle of beer, its not to bad!

Lacing is ok. Aroma is spices galore, ginger, coriander, other stuff. The flavor is the same as the aroma. Lots of ginger. Almost a bit like juicy fruit but not as sweet. Chocolate and coffee malt (M); spruce, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg. Slightly warmer than the Sweetwater Festive Ale I had a few nights ago. Heavily sweet flavor becomes a moderately sweet, heavily spicy, lightly acidic finish. Medium-heavy body, creamy texture, lively carbonation.
