Blend of spices in the aroma. The 2002 version seems to have a lighter spice flavor than I remember from previous versions. Typically, I’m not a huge fan of spiced beers. This one’s not too bad though.

Although I’ve had the last 6 years or so I’ve only had the 2001 and 2002 within recent memory. 2001 (aged 1 year, magnum bottle): Not as distinctive as many of the others I’ve tasted. Certainly not unpleasant but with this beer I look for a little bit of an ’I love it/I hate it’ approach that emphasizes the them ingredient. Here we have a beer that resembles too many other winter offereing with the typical spicing.

A nice xmas ale. Very strong nutmeg flavor. Had the after taste of a gingerbread man.

Good mix of malt and spices, though only true Christmas-styled brew fans will enjoy several.

She doesn’t smell like much but she has a rich cinnamon/ginger taste to her snatch...so much so it gets sickening by the end of the beer. Her lace has a wonderful sparkle emerging from a modest frothy head.

Had the 2000 and 2001 from 12 oz. bottles tonight and the rating is really an average. Both are very dark with frothy, beige head. 2001 has more orange/citrus notes in the nose and the flavor. Both are nice and spicey with the 2001 having sharper ginger/clove/nutmeg flavors. The 2000 is smoother and better blended with darker sweetness. Both very good and I bet the 2002 will be even better next year.
