Almost black in color with 1/4’ head, poured very nicely. A beer that tastes better after cellaring and I prefer to dink in the summer over winter. If you buy some don’t be afraid to cellar it for months or even years. 2000 edition I rated a 4. bigal9699 (152), Orange County, California, USA

Although the recipe changes, exepct to fine beer with huge flavors and complex taste. Its not overly hoppes, but does lean to the piney side. Mix in the spices and malts - its a great brew and of very high quality. JPDIPSO (4935), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

The 2000 offering was the least memoriable with almost a dry stout characteristic. The 1996 with a hint of nutmeg was excellent and was even better a year later. One beer I typically cannot wait to find during the holidays. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Nice head, very thick and creamy, mocha-colored. Rich scent, lots of bitter/milk chocolate, butterscotch, plum, and licorice in the nose. Flavor is lovely, with lots of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and cocoa. Finish is of orange peel, clove, and Christmas candy. Very creamy, lovely texture. A deeply rewarding brew. Flowery, spicy aroma with oranges, pineapple, merengue and caramel. Fruity taste with some pineapple and apricots. Very malty with a spicy middle and a loooooong hop finish. Really heavy. This one is high class. Will age it for a couple years and see what happens.
Two years old (sampled 031223) it is not much too see. The extremely fruity and cotton-candy like aroma has softened. Unfortunately so has the flavor. Hugerat (432), somerville, Massachusetts, USA
