It basicly taste and smells like the others. This one had some oxidation. I’m just not a big fan. Thanks Richard for sending this one awhile back. elelwarren (138), SF Bay area, California, USA

One catches my eye because it’s the only sixer which is not full. I do a double take when I see the palm tree on the cardboard holder and read the year, "2001," on the label. The cardboard is water saturated and fraying, but inside sit 4 bottles of 2001 Special Ale. Can it be? BTW, a lovely, slightly sweet brew with lots of deep coffee flavored roasted malts, pine woodiness and mellowed, but quite apparent, hops. Great head & milder carbonation than more recent of these brews. Awesome! Bockyhorsey (2549), Mesa, Arizona, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 16, 2008 2000 vintage - Easily my 2nd favorite vintage of the 6 we tried. The aroma had the same classic OSA holiday spice, but there seemed to be spruce needles in the mix which gave it a nice earthy, piney character. I could also pick up some distinct tea characteristics too. Flavors had the spicy combo but there was some nice chocolate hints too which was a welcomed addition. Some light coffee notes were detected (strangely enough). Good stuff for being 7+ years old." AmEricanbrew (1900), Wynot, Wyoming, USA

Mahogany hue with a decent tan head. Strong smell of burnt caramel, orange peel, cloves. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A slight oxidized smell does not detract. Earthy, woody, lightly toasted malt taste with spice flavors that echo the smell.
A smooth, subtle malt beverage here.2004
