Brown color. Very nice aroma, mature: malt, caramel, phenol, sweet liquorice, nutmeg, nuts; harmonious and complex. But, as often happens with the Anchor Our Special Ales, the mouthfeel is too thin (dry, caramel, liquorice, roasted malts) and far from being impressive.

Has an immediate bite a the front and has ginger along with other spices and do I detect Worchestishire?

A black beer with a reddish shine and a light brown though fast disappearing head. The aroma is weird of spruce, oranges, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and eucalyptus. The flavor is weird too with the same notes as the aroma.

Strong pinecone finish. Very sour and strange. Spicy and roasted. Burned toast and sour socks in the palate. Malty sourness.

Dark brown coloured with a reddish shine. Loads of orange, cloves, cinnamon and some ginger in the aroma. Herbal bitterness in the finish.

Essentialy the same as the 2003. Dark brown appearance. Aroma is of freshly baked gingerbread men. Flavor was spicy with some nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon. This seemed a little less spicy than the 2003. A nice Christmas sipping beer.

1.5 liter bottled, shared and toasted to bring in the New Year..Dark brown in color with a large off white dense foamy head.A year old and the aroma was as spicey as I could have imagined a beer being freshly brewed two weeks earlier.Woody,pine/spruce and other trees? Essence of cinamon, giner, maybe some pepper or cloves.

Very dark brown, deeper tan head. Aroma was definitely sprucey and a bit malty. Similar flavor, lots of pine, kind of sweet. Not bad, but not much balance.
