The appearance was nice, but thats about where my curiosity ceased... I smelled the aroma... i knew i had smelled it before.... but i couldsnt identify it.... IT WAS THE ODOR OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE I HAD PUT UP THE DAY BEFORE!!!! Sadly... the taste reflected the flavor to an astonishing degree...

What an unexpected treat GEOBRAU (182), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2003 Updated: Dec 28, 2003Bottle: pours an opaque brown with a brown head. Sweet malt with dark roastiness that isn't overpowering. mouthfeel was surprisingly thin but I enjoyed that. Spruce?? me thinks yes. I brewed my own winter warmer recently and this is inspiring to be sure.
NOTE: I had this beer after it was over a year old, so it may be much more subdued than the same beer in the previous ratings. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

I felt like I was drinking a liquid gingerbread house. A major disappointment in my book. Either I simply wasn’t in the mood for this or maybe I just don’t appreciate this style of seasonal. Note: the rating date for this beer was actually Nov. 2002. haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA

Pine aroma. Some cinamon as well. Spicy taste. Some ginger, nutmeg, and cinamon. Strong aftertaste. A nice holiday treat fron Anchor Brewing! ZepolK (102), South Side Montebello, California, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 25, 2003 Spicy ginger and cinnamon nose with a dark brown color and almost no head. Flavor is similar to the aroma. Very strong spice and ginger flavor that reminds me of ginger root beer that leaves an over powering aftertaste. Too much spice and not enough balance for my taste. snoot (277), Anaheim, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 22, 2003 Pours a dark brown with decent head. Aroma is very spicy, nutmeg in the nose. Way too much nutmeg for my liking in the flavor...reminds me way too much of grandma's cooking for me to find it enjoyable. lemonlovr (187), Lockport, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2003 Smells very nice - wintry and spicy and just a little bit sweet. The color is a deep dark brown with tan head. The flavor is sweet up front with hints of chocolate and cream, followed by a slightly hoppy finish. Palate is very satisfying - this beer has some body. A very nice wintertime brew, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite styles (in general).
