In flavour spices are exposed even more, body cot slightly creamy texture. Some ginger a la Kopernik from Torun. Interesting beer that would love it or hate it. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2004 as with the Cap and 1more, I can only assume that the Winter Ale is the same as Our special Ale 2003. Dark brown beer with lots of fruits and hops on the nose. Deep matls and fruitness caracterize the beer, with a slight acidity and some cloves. Very good body! I found the flavour much more fruity, maybe cassis with a slight acidic finish. Poured a deep brown body and beige head. Nothing memorable... fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2004 Up and down and up and down goes my opinion of this beer that I'm now well into my third decade of drinking. Impression hit a low at the point where I felt there was just TOO much spice. Seems a bit toned down. Either that or I've just hammered my taste buds into oblivion. My take on it is that it's like a lovely winter porter. The magnum seems to me to be ever so slightly more mellow and rounded than the 12 oz. Or maybe it's just that after having one I feel generous. good beer. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2004 Draft at RFD in DC. Spicy - pepper, coriander and maybe pesto hit me first but all disappeared when nutmeg assaulted the taste buds. Pretty smooth but a little too overwhelming for me to want too much of it or to rate it too highly. Perhaps just a little more balance. 1more4dessert (231), Upstate, New York, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 15, 2004 11/24/03: Bottle. Brown body with hints of red. Aromas of vanilla, Novocaine, salve and Band-Aids with some malt thrown in. Tastes include hops and dry-malt. There is a heavy medicine-like flavor: a combination of Novocaine, salve and Band-Aids. The finish has some vanilla and tea with a tinge of black cherry towards the very end. I am not a fan of this beer, although I do like the label.
