Commercial Description:
This is the thirtieth special ale from the brewers at Anchor. It is available from early November to mid January. The ale's recipe is different every year, but the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. In ancient times, trees symbolized the winter solstice, when the earth with its seasons appears born anew.

35,5 cl bottle. Tasted during trip to California. Black colour with a nice beige but little head. Roasted aroma that contained hints of spice and chocolate. Oddly spice flavour with notes of darkchokolate that ends very dry nearly no bitterness, very low body. Little carbonation. When visiting only 12 pack could be purchased hence I am now tasting the last of twelve poor christmasbeer.

My roomate said to me earlier "I like your Merry Christmas and A Happy New year bottle." By that time I was immerged in some Nova program and Was totally perplexed as to what she was talking about. Then I rememberd, damn, I got an almost year old brew to drink. Nice dark cola like pour with a banger of lacing and head. Spices are obvious in this, though as equally blended. Nutmeg, cinnamon, some licorice and a coffee tone. Nice soft muzel and creamy flavour with a well rounded aftertaste. An Easy drinker....not as "chewy" as I had hoped, but refreshing indeed. This is my first of their seasonal brews, and I will definately eye out the 2005.

Very dark brown, opaque, small short lasting brown head. Spicy and fruity aroma. Medium body, texture and carbonation with a bitter finish. Hints of chocolate but predominently malty and gingery. Not bad.

Very beautyful appearance, dark mahogany coloured and a big foamy cappuccino-like head. Complex aroma with many hints of pine, spices, dark dried fruits and roasted malt. Flavour is spicy again with a nice licorice finish. Light body and very drinkable. I love it.

big beige head on a mahogany body. Aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, etc. This is cool! Ive never had anything like this before. Said spices are evident in the flavor. Has a slight bitterness to it with a coffee finish. Hey this is kinda cool and everything, but the spices kinda started to piss me off. Oh well.
