May 5, 2005 Some time has passed between now and Christmas 2004 when I drank this beer, so some of the subtle nuances have escaped me, but I’ll always have the drunken Christmas memories. The dark color and overall spicy character are easy to remember as well as the oversized bottle that was available. There’s nothing like welcoming a new year with a liter or two of this spicy brew.

May 5, 2005 Malty licorice aroma with some other hints of spice. Black witha decent tan head that didipates to a thin layer on top of glass. Sweet flavor that leaves a roasted nut aftertaste on the palate. A good beer for any season I would say, not just the holiday’s.

Apr 23, 2005 Dark brown with a small lasting tan head. Spicy nutmeg/cinamoon aroma, mixed with choc malt. Wonderful spicy flavour, not overpowering though. Some nice clean caramel malt flavours too. Medium-full bodied, Nice stuff!

Apr 19, 2005 Bottle. Delicious. Fantastic aroma and flavour. Spicy christmas cake and chocolate flavours/aromas, smooth round palate, with an extrememly long finish. Spicy, hoppy finish, really well balanced. Yum!

Apr 18, 2005 A very nice, dark, spiced ale with a slightly medicinal taste which is not unpleasant. A little less aromatic and nuanced than the 2003. Very good nonetheless.

Apr 18, 2005 Dense, dark reddish brown appearance, thickbeige head fromation. Piney hop aroma, mildly roasted with licorice, ginger and cranberry, especially fruity. Medium palate, underlying caramel/chocolate, roasty, with ginger snaps and nutmeg. very dry spice in the finish. One of the spiciest brews I know of, could use a little more body though.

Apr 15, 2005 Dark brown with a medium head, aroma is seasonal spice (nutmeg or other). While I enjoyed this, it seemed like it could be more balanced in the mouthfeel, finish is a bit dry.
