| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2004 very pretty red/brown color with a nice reddish tan head that holds together and laces well. nose is malty and spicy, with definate nutmeg/eggnog spice notes. flavor is sweet and malty, with a tang from the spices. (almost peppery?) pretty balanced mouthfeel. not the most drinkable of beers-I think I would have trouble drinking this in any kind of quantity.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2004 Dark reddish brown appearance with a creamy medium sized head seems just right for a winter warmer. The amount of visible carbonation is very low, but the head still hangs around for a while.
The aroma is pine and spruce needles with the nutmeg, and cinnamon thrown in. The taste is softly malty with the caramelized and smoky flavors mixing quite well with mild spices. The aftertaste has a woody dryness.
The mouthfeel is creamy and soothing. The alcohol is not too hot. Drinking a couple of these 12 oz. bottles in a sitting ought to be no big deal. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA

Strong aromas of caramel and pine. Smells almost like a Christmas tree. Many different flavors show up; pine, caramel, coffee, pumpkin pie spices, and even some sweet fruitiness. Nice hoppy finish with more of the piney flavors. This beer tastes like Christmas. Outstanding. omhper (12283), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2004 Updated: Dec 28, 2004Bottled. Dark ruby with beautiful rich, dense beige head. Aroma of licorice and fir. Medium bodied, dryish, lightly roasty. The spices are well balanced, and the flavours subtle and complex. The finish has a fair amount of herbal bitterness. What lacks this otherwise wonderful beer is malt depth. It feels a little sharp around the edges and on the thin side.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 8, 2004 Poured a dark brown with hints of ruby red around the edges. Nice roasted arome, with chocolate, coffee, spice, and dark fruits. Nice biege head. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Roasted chocolate and coffee, with a hint of wood, fruit, and lots of spice. Mildly bitter aftertaste that was long and lingering. Anchor constistantly puts out one the best winter seasonals. jayme9874 (756), Hamburg, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2004 Dark brown, red. Creamy head and nice lacing, the usual assortment of spices in the nose. This year’s seems the most approachable to me, maybe they cut back on the ginger. Medium-light body, nice malts, playful but assertive spices, smooth and tasty.
