Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

12 oz bottle. This is a rich creamy porter with stong taste of chocolate malt. It has a slightly bitter beginning and a creamy malty end. Color is almost black with a good head. Aroma was a bit yeasty. This is only the second time I’ve had it and I would recommend for those that like porters. Not easy to find in my area.

Bottle. Pours with a khaki head over a dark brown, near black body. Aroma is sweet chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, light banana esters, and light dark fruit notes. Taste is light roast and light bitterness with vanilla, sweet fruit and finishes slightly nutty. Light carbonation with a water like consistency.

Great porter. Nice mellow aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor is packed with coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is very creamy, especially since the head lasts the entire glass.

12 oz bottle. Pours black, creamy head, some lacing. Huge aroma of coffee, malt, and chocolate. Flavor is similiar with big roasty flavor. Creamy mouthfeel. Not your typical porter, but it works.

1 pint 6 oz bottle from BevMo. Pitch black with a small tan head. Smells of malt, barley, coffee, dark chocolate, and black cherries. Taste is lots of coffee, rich, thick, and full of dark chocolate. I don’t usually go for porters but this is a really well made tasty beer.
