DubC5000 (195), San Diego, California, USA Mar 9, 2009 A slightly smokey, sweet and malty aroma, with a touch of maple. Nearly opaque, dark brown in color. Deep malty flavor with a mild hop bitterness in the backdrop, a touch of smoke, and a bit of pine and toasted oak in the aftertaste. Although the initial taste is great, it declines a little bit through the glass, ending up a tad watery at the end. A solid effort nonetheless. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours solid black with light brown head. Aroma is slightly sweet roasted malt with some mild smokey notes. Flavor starts pretty sweet with lots of roasted malts as it warmed I picked up much more chocolate and coffee. Very smooth finish with light bitterness. Nice beer. fromred2green (141), , Ohio, USA Mar 6, 2009 Bottle. Pours blackish brown with a meduim brown head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt with rather light coffee and chocolate notes. Excellent. Nebulor (109), , California, USA Mar 6, 2009 Has a bready malt aroma with florals.
Pure black color with a hint of an amber hue, did not notice any sediment, and too difficult to se any action.
Sweet roasted malt taste, almost burnt, and has multi floral hops of pine with a butter background.
Full bodied, resinous, bready, slightly buttery, with a soft carbonation.
Very good session Porter with lots of hop florals, minimal bitterness, and a well balanced sweetness of malts. Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Mar 4, 2009 Not a bad porter. Has all the things you would expect of a good one; chocolate aroma, very dark pour, tan frothy head. It was just alright though. thejon375 (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 3, 2009 AMAZING PORTER!!!! Thanks to Steve for making me get this. Dark black color and big bold flavor. Must try for everyone. dnlsartin (68), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 24, 2009 Black gold with a snowy, fizzy head approximately the color of the label. Bountiful aroma of dark, bitter chocolate. Nutty, roasted malt, brown sugar, burnt espresso, licorice, and hint of oak in the finish. Its watery mouth-feel and carbonation reminds me of a soft drink, but, with that out of the way, probably the quality standard in porters. Its reputation speaks for itself. Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Feb 22, 2009 35,5 cl Bottle. One of the few decent US beer that can be found in Greece. Very dark brown to black color, with a small brown head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee and faint hints of licorice. Again roasted malty taste with coffee , caramel, some chocolate and licorice. Very nice
