Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottle.Pours a very dark brown with an average light brown head . Aroma is roasty, and sweet.Flavor is sweet caramel and banana with hints of molasses and caramel. The finish is dry and quite bitter. The body feels pretty full, sticky mouthfeel would have liked a little more carbonation. A very good porter that I will buy again for sure.

purs a nice, dark brown color, with a slight dark red color around the edges. 3 finger head, with really nice lacing throughout. First sip i thought this tasted a lot like a wine, its a little dry in the end. And has enough bitterness to balance out the hops but not to be overwhelming. not bad, but i dont think i would drink more than 2 in one sitting due to the dry wine taste i get from it, which maybe how porters are, as this is my first, i didnt know what exactley to expect from this one, eager to try more of this style though.

Bottle at California Academy of Sciences. Actually not a bad porter. A little sweet and overly moasses-like. But definitely not a bad porter. Goes down smooth and clean, with a nice warm dark malty note.

Wow. I really like this one. Well balanced and rich flavor. Smooth and rich, with notes of caramel and chocolate. Thumbs way up!

Whoa. I truly hope I just got ahold of a few bad bottles but this is very dissapointing. Pours dark brown with huge tan head. Flavor is very metallic and harsh. Ive drank two and Im honestly considering giving the other 4 away.

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has tons of banana and grass, very fresh, with more bitter hops opening up as it warms. The flavor is solid and smooth, with an excellent balance of bitterness and sweetness that nullifies the bad aspects of both. A really nice porter.
