fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Dec 6, 2008 Pours very dark brown, may have particulate, its really hard to tell, tall darker tan/amber head that has great retention and leaves some lacing. Aroma is delicious chocolate and roast malts, a little caramel, dried plums, and burnt sugar. Flavor is lots of roast, chocolate, butterscotch, raisins, a bit of char and a playful fruity note that is difficult to tie down. FInish is fairly bitter with vanilla, banana, roast notes following through. LawBadger (24), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Nov 29, 2008 From bottle: Pours a dark brown that is almost black. Has a thick, creamy, tan head. Aroma is of malt and caramel/chocolate. Tastes of malt, caramel, chocolate, and brown sugar. Slight bittersweet finish with hints of some type of fruit and vanilla. Overall a very good beer. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Nov 28, 2008 Solid all around porter. Pour is black with a thick, creamy off white tanish head. Roasted malts, caramel, dried fruits, and some toast give the aroma and flavors. Very easy to drink. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Nov 28, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malts, molasses, some dried fruit. Brown sugar. hombrepalo (745), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 26, 2008 12 oz bottle. Solid Porter! Poured a dark ass brown with light brown head. Scent of roasted malts, molasses, chocolate, carmel and some fruit. Taste is soft with a heavy roasty taste and chocaolate/carmel malt finish. Overall a nice brew. Nothing over the top with this one. jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown almost balck, with some amber in there as well. Head is creamy tan, thick and long lasting. Smells roasty, sweet, and carmely. Tastes deep and roasted, sweet with some fruitiness. Chocolate, raisin, carmel, coffee, vanilla, and plum are present, but not overly done. Some tastes of pine hops are barely present, but come out more as the beer gets warmer. Strong alcohol flavor is also present. Very good. penguinjive7 (67), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 20, 2008 Pours almost black with a nice foamy tan head. The retention and lacing is excellent.
The smell is of roasted malt, brown sugar, and hops.
The taste is initially of roasted malt with the subtle presence of hops. After washing over the tongue a few times, the brown sugar comes through (especially as it warms) and all the tastes blend into a nice bittersweet finish.
The mouthfeel is on the light side for what I would expect form a porter, but this is not necessarily a negative. Carbonation is balanced and lends to the brew’s crispness.
This is a very easy drinking porter. I would take delight in having several of these in a sitting (though I don’t normally like to do that). The bittersweetness of this brew makes up for any loss in complexity. This is a great straight-up porter and I think it will become a regular for me.

Nose is dark fruits, raisin and cherry with chocolate and caramel, maybe a touch of roasted malts. Chocolaty and fruity, cherry, raisin and date, with mild roasty character. Great mouth feel. A touch fruitier than I expected, but not a detractor. Tasty brew.
