Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with fleeting amber hues and a rocking, lacing khaki head. Nose is dark fruits, raisin and cherry with chocolate and caramel, maybe a touch of roasted malts. Chocolaty and fruity, cherry, raisin and date, with mild roasty character. Great mouth feel. A touch fruitier than I expected, but not a detractor. Tasty brew.

From a bottle poured dark brown/black with a small head. Nice toasted malty flavor with a quick finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours a tan head, tiny bubbles, fair duration, no lacing, over a dark clear body...nose of bread, yeast, coffee, molasses, very minimal hop....tastes of roasted malts, coffee, mild bitterness in the finish....rich mouthfeel, no sharpness, perhaps a little light. 11/07/2008

Crushed with Jakebra. Now that is a robust mofo of a porter. Chocolatey and roasty aroma. Pretty damn delicious. Finish lasts forever with vanilla and roasty tobacco-y flavors. Top-notch.

On tap at the brewery. Deep brown but clearly not black. Tan frothy head with some decent lacing. Fruity chocolate cordial aroma. Flavor is chocolate malt balls with a hint of red fruit and a nice roasty bitter finish. Light bodied and smooth, very drinkable. A porter with no frills, just quality.

Brewed in the USA !! (KSBF) Pours a lovely dark brown color with a med tan head. This porter has a nice chocolate malt aroma with a mild coffee, dark fruit taste. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side but quite refreshing.

Looks great. Is opaque dark brown and the tan head is thick and luscious. Lacing is lovely. Aroma is pure quality. Roasted malt, fun asphalt smells, chocolate, rich enticing earth. Creamy, gulpable mouthfeel. Chocolate, cream, mellow, balanced, nothing burnt, nothing bitter. Just nice quality creamy chocolate-forward porter. A really solid go-to beer!

Pours the darkest of browns; almost black with a frothy, tan, two-finger head that lingers. Aroma is of sweetness, roast, and maltiness. Perfect mouthfeel. Nice and roasty, but does not accumulate on the palate like many porters. Nice molasses, fig, raisin, and roast taste. Very tasty, a world class porter.
