Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Crushed with Jakebra. Now that is a robust mofo of a porter. Chocolatey and roasty aroma. Pretty damn delicious. Finish lasts forever with vanilla and roasty tobacco-y flavors. Top-notch.

On tap at the brewery. Deep brown but clearly not black. Tan frothy head with some decent lacing. Fruity chocolate cordial aroma. Flavor is chocolate malt balls with a hint of red fruit and a nice roasty bitter finish. Light bodied and smooth, very drinkable. A porter with no frills, just quality.

Brewed in the USA !! (KSBF) Pours a lovely dark brown color with a med tan head. This porter has a nice chocolate malt aroma with a mild coffee, dark fruit taste. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side but quite refreshing.

Looks great. Is opaque dark brown and the tan head is thick and luscious. Lacing is lovely. Aroma is pure quality. Roasted malt, fun asphalt smells, chocolate, rich enticing earth. Creamy, gulpable mouthfeel. Chocolate, cream, mellow, balanced, nothing burnt, nothing bitter. Just nice quality creamy chocolate-forward porter. A really solid go-to beer!

Pours the darkest of browns; almost black with a frothy, tan, two-finger head that lingers. Aroma is of sweetness, roast, and maltiness. Perfect mouthfeel. Nice and roasty, but does not accumulate on the palate like many porters. Nice molasses, fig, raisin, and roast taste. Very tasty, a world class porter.

Well-designed label. Dark pour with a rocky head. Rich aroma with malt, yeast, and a little coffee. This is pretty sweet and light for a porter, with some coffee and coca-cola flavors - but it is not flabby. Some hop tartness and bitterness comes thru clearly. It is a touch medicinal too, unfortunately. A little overrated i.mo., but this is still a nice porter.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a big ol’ tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Very creamy and chocolatey, the flavor melts well into the palate. This is a great session porter, very tasty.

Porter sampled at the KSBF- Very dark chocolate brown with a settled off-white head. Malt-grain light sweetness on the nose. Pallet on a malt-grain path with some seasoned fruits, coffee and toffee notes. Well rounded with a slight dry finish.
