Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours black from the bottle with a huge light brown head. Beautiful roasted aroma. On sight alone this looks this a nice thick porter. Surprising that the appearance and the flavor do not match. The first sip is pleasant and roasty...hints of chocolate and molasses. This is wonderful. The initial flavors though do not finish strong for my tastes

Chocolate aroma, slightly smoky, sweet. Chocolate taste, nice bitterness in the end along with sweet notes. I like this a lot more than in the first try, the mouthfeel is soft and rich. A very good beer.

Poured from tap black with a mocha colored medium sized head. Aromas of sweet malt and roast grain. Flavor is mildly sweet with malt, toffee, soft roast grain and coffee. Palate has a smooth feel with a light grain bitter-sweetness at the end. Not too thick, not too thin. Great porter for most occasions.

Remarkably complex flavor - toffee, chocolate, ripe fruit, peanut brittle, hoppy bitterness, and even a touch of alcohol. Could use a bit more body, but I’m not complaining. Good beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a large creamy beige head. The aroma is chocolate, barley, slight roast, and dark fruit. The flavor has creamy semi sweet chocolate, cocoa, dark fruit, anise, and a nice touch of bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, smooth, very enjoyable. Nothing is over the top, just a well crafted porter

22oz in mug. Dark chocolate brown and lots of tan head. Pleasingly dry, medium body. Toffee, amaretto, and toast notes throughout. Totally delicious and drinkable.

(Bottle). Mild sweet cocoa aroma. Black color with a lovely deep tan creamy head. Flavor is malty and sweet milk chocolate, not much bitterness. Some nuts in the finish. Not a porter that makes a huge "notice me" impact, but nonetheless extremely drinkable and pleasing.
