Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

RateBeer Rating, Style and Glass: 98, porter, english pint or stem glass ABV, Volume & Calories: 5.6% in 12 fl oz. estimated at 150 C Purchased at: Circle Liquors Super Saver, Pennington, NJ for $2.50 Aroma: leather, funk, armpit. feet. 7 out of 10. Visuals: opaque, black and oily, persistent tan head, thick lace. 5 out of 5. Taste: leather, tea, licorice, corn, little hops, well crafted brown style. 8 out of 10. Palate: flat soda, smooth, quick flat finish. 3 out of 5. Overall: Like delicious but flat root beer. I would not seek it out a second time, but this is not my favorite style. It seems of a high craft. 15 out of 20.

Rather thin but dark pour with quite a huge brown head. The nose is dominated of burned malts with hints of caramels and coffee. I sense a bitter citrus flavour together with a nice roasted malty finish. The palate is too waterish imo.

Poured from bottle. Dark as a coke with a nice thick brown head. Smells malty but has a hint of cantaloupe. Very smooth and sweet flavors of coffee and chocolate. Nice and creamy on the tongue. Very nice.

Dark reddish black pour with beige head. Strong malty nose. Deep roasted malt flavor with a surprising sharp pang of bitter bite. Good to great.

On Draft - Very dark with a white head. Aroma is slightly smoky, roasted malt. The taste was much the same with a bit of a bitter hop finish and a nice creamy feel. Nice beer.

the beer pours a deep black with a thin off white head that leaves a nice lacing. the nose is a nice mix of burnt malts and sweet chocolate. the body is somewhat water but the flavor is a nice mix of toasted malts and burnt sugar. the finish is slightly acidic and medium lived.
