Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

12oz bottle from BevMo! Mission Valley. Pours deep brown almost black with a small beige head that left great lacing. Very faint aromas of caramel and toasted malt. Not much to this beer, drinkable but, overrated.

Pours a very dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is a bit subdued but contains some chocolate, smoke, and coffee bitterness. Flavor is kind of dry and smoke but with a nice chocolate and coffee finish.

On tap. Creamy head. Rich aroma. Had a hint of chocolate and an almost oaky flavor to it. Not my favorite porter, but I wouldn’t turn it down, either.

wasn’t getting so much aroma from this but the smooth, creamy, thick feel is the one thing to note. coffee, cocoa and nuttiness to the flavour but it only just scrapes a 7 in all honesty because i was expecting a bit more.

Pours a very dark brownish black with a nice creamy tan head. Very nutty aroma with some coffee and chocolate notes. Flavor starts out with a hint of fruitiness and roasted malt. Some strong coffee notes come through in the finish and a very intense nut flavor lingers for a bit. Full bodied and rich. Definitely a tasty porter, and a great sipper if you like those coffee and nut flavors.

Pours a deep opaque brown with a rocky light tan head. Aroma screams soy sauce with hints of cocoa and coffee. Very smokey. Very lively carbonation and heavy mouthfeel. Taste is much less soy saucy and more on the roasted grain/coffee side with very little bitterness. Not that complex but not a bad choice.

Pours an almost opaque reddish/black... the amber color shows more at the edges and with the nice head. Aroma is nice, but not overpowering... flavor is of roasted malts, with mocha. Balanced sweetness with this one.

A very nice beer. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, banana nut bread, prunes, s’mores, and scotch. Appearance is dark as coal. Flavor is nice- chocolate, coffee, and Robert DeNiro mole juice. So, overall, it’s quite delicious, if a bit one-dimensional.
