dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jun 23, 2008 Pours an almost opaque reddish/black... the amber color shows more at the edges and with the nice head. Aroma is nice, but not overpowering... flavor is of roasted malts, with mocha. Balanced sweetness with this one. chocolateyflow (15), Oxford, Mississippi, USA Jun 22, 2008 A very nice beer. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, banana nut bread, prunes, s’mores, and scotch. Appearance is dark as coal. Flavor is nice- chocolate, coffee, and Robert DeNiro mole juice. So, overall, it’s quite delicious, if a bit one-dimensional. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 22, 2008 Deep deep deep brown with a milk chocolate head. Smells of delicious dark malt though not especially roasty with strong hints of chocolate. Taste is smooth chocolate which follows into a bitter finish that is more cocoa bitter than hop bitter. A fantastic porter. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA Jun 20, 2008 (Sample from November 17, 2006 Beer Club Meeting; Sample from December 14, 2007 Beer Club Meeting; 22oz bottle at home on June 20, 2008) Popped the cap, poured the amber-brown brew into a pint glass, and watched the light brown foamy head form, which holds itself well on top the solid mohogany/black porter. Aroma is roasted and malty. Flavor is uniquely bitter and roasted. Medium malt body, coats the tongue with a tasty film of spicy, malted bitter. A great comination of texture and flavors on the palate... very enjoyable. Each sip is just as good as the previous, allowing the tongue to open up to additional flavors of chocolate and spice. Rich, but not too complex or heavy. I’d score this higher only if it had a better palate - I think I would enjoy a slightly heftier body. All in all, can’t complain about this can’t-go-wrong beer! Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours an almost opaque black with ruby highlights. Aggressive pour resulted in a 3 finger tan head and great lacing. Nose has some dark fruits, mellow coffee and chocolate aromas. Taste is milk chocolate, prunes and coffee with a powdery cocoa flavor in the finish followed by some hop bite. Medium mouth feel. Good stuff. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 18, 2008 Pours a nice black color with a nice size light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, barley, malt. Flavor is barley, malt, chocoate, roasted coffee. Finish is bitter powdery chocolate. Decent porter. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Jun 14, 2008 Updated: Aug 3, 2008Black, Roasted malts, creamy, nutty, chocolate, sweet, little coffee, with a slight nice bitter finish. TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Jun 14, 2008 Bottle. Very malty smell of toffee and chocolate, also roasted and nutty, quite sweet - an extremely nice smell. The head is large, brown and creamy, long lasting; the body is black. Light acidic start, then it gets a little bit more bitter, then it gets sweeter and the finish is finally bitter again. Rather long duration. Medium to full body, creamy and oily texture and a soft carbonation. A very nice Porter!
