SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy May 14, 2008 Bottle: Poured a dark black color with a medium beige color head. The aroma is coffee but sweet with some hops. The taste is sweet coffee with nice hops and twists as it warmed up. Very nice old style porter. mugabe (215), Sweden May 13, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown/black, with thick head. Aroma of cream and coffee. Chocolate flavour with a hoppy finish. Some alcohol. Not as full body as you might expect Aquilo (248), California, USA May 11, 2008 Black with a small creamy head. Aroma of chocolate and pistashio. Flavor is nutty (almond, pistashio, hazelnut...) with a bit of chocolate. Some hops come through in the finish. Medium bodied. This is exactly what I think of when I think of porter. Quite good, but nothing fancy. tylerss20 (101), New Hampshire, USA May 9, 2008 Updated: May 10, 2008I live in NH and have driven across state lines to find it by the bottle. Had this at Tapwerks in OKC. Pours dark dirt brown, with slight red tint. Notes of roasted malt, spices, wood, coffee, and fruit. Taste is amazing, complex. Not too dirty, not too hoppy. Some sweetness. Finishes with a small bitter kick. An amazing beer, but much better by tap than bottle. Really amazing stuff. tarheels86 (701), Washington DC, USA May 8, 2008 Updated: Feb 26, 2009Fairly large head, very deep red color, and the foam settles to a nice level that keeps for the entirety of the glass. Licorice, mocha aroma. Taste is not too bitter: almost like unsweetened chocolate with some brown sugar. Easy to drink- could put a few of these away in one sitting. Rich and not too heavy- awesome. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2008 Bottle. Dark beer with a tan lacing around the glass. Smoked malt, licorish, sweet fruit. Thin carbonation and mildly hopped finish. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA May 7, 2008 Updated: May 20, 2008A very good porter. Sweet, slightly roasty, and very easy to drink. Roastiness doesn’t linger too long. Sweetness is almost a bit too much, lingering on fruity. Roastiness could be more, and the beer is a bit tannic after a while. Otherwise, this is a very smooth, easy drinking excellent porter. High recommended. Todeon (314), Sweden May 7, 2008 Bottle from Systembolaget, sweden. Aroma is a bit fruity with some smokey and sweet notes. Flavor is roastad and sweet with notes of fruit, licorice and coffee. Good porter!
