Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours dark brown with large light tan head that lasts forever. Aroma is sweet with caramel. Flavor is roasted and sweet and goes down real smooth. This is different than other porters I’ve had. Rich but smooth, it makes you want to drink more.

Had on draft, poured dark red to black with tan head. Aroma is sweet with sugar and chocolate. Flavor was sweet with notes of coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable to sweet to have more than one or two.

Bottle from Systembolaget. In the new world of monster ABV porters, this is a great example of a more drink-friendly beer. Lovely burnt sugar and coffee nose. However slightly too sugary sweet for my taste, with an oil-slick mouthfeel. Very rich beer considering the strength.

Bottle. Very sweet aroma, like honey. Caramel like taste. Nice head/head retention. Nice dark brown/black color. Very well balanced. Perhaps a little flat tasting.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Nice porter, much better than other porters I have drinked. Not much to say though, roasted flavours with some smokiness. Good!

Chocolate syrup and mocha (coffee bean) nose. Black with a hint of crimson. Huge long lasting head. Very understated roasted coffee dark chocolate sweetness, just enough hops to balance. Full mouth feel, good carbonation, with a mellow bittersweet chocolate finish. An excellent Porter.

Sampled after our mvp tasting session consisting of some serious beers. So my palate was pretty pwn3d. Poured nice, but not the best porter if had. Will rerate eventually.

Bottle, 35.5 cl. Pours a black colour with a pale brown head. Aroma is roasted with notes of coffee beans and chocolate (both sweet milk chocolate and darker and more bitter chocolate). Flavour is quite sour-sweet and roasted with notes of coffee beans, sweet milk chocolate, tart unripe blackcurrants. Dark bitter chocolate in the finish. A quite straightforward porter. At 16 Swedish kronors (~2.60 USD) a bottle this is a great QPR!
