elelwarren (138), SF Bay area, California, USA Mar 14, 2008 Very drinkable. Wonderful, yeasty bubblegum aroma. Very lacy head. Less roasty or hoppy than I had expected. Well balanced between sugars and roasted malts. A classic. hoeg0015 (11), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 13, 2008 pours extremely dark with big foam. very pleasant caramel malt aroma. has a nice thin feel with subtle coffee flavors and some sweetness. tremendous beer overall. twindog (69), Hampstead, Maryland, USA Mar 12, 2008 pours dark with light brown foam with dark chocolate and dark fruity notes very creamy this beer is very smooth with some coffee flover , this is a great beer yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 12, 2008 From tap at Ølbaren. Pours dark brown to black, little red hue and a dense tan/brown head. Roasted malt aroma, mild coffee note. Caramel malt, chocolate and a smooth roasted note following. Minor liqourice note. Ends with a smooth chocolate and light roasted note. StFun (535), Indiana, USA Mar 11, 2008 Pours black and creamy with minimum lacing. Texture is thin, has a thin head, with minimal lacing. Looks like a Coke, smells like a Yoo-Hoo, tastes like an alcoholic Yoo-Hoo. Slightly watery, rich flavor. Fairly simple, but good. One of the better porters thats readily available. zeke626 (301), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 9, 2008 Thanks to akevitt for sharing. Pours a dark brown body with foamy, light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel with a hint of taffy. Initially, flavors of sweet malts and dark chocolate are present, with the chocolate becoming more dominate in the aroma and taste as it warms. Medium-bodied and smooth mouthfeel. Slight mocha finish with a tinge of hoppiness. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Mar 8, 2008 12 fl. oz. bottle, St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco, 21st Feb 2008. Pours pitch black with a small head. All the aromas you’d expect from a porter are present and correct - rich malt, bitter coffee and dark fruits. Likewise in the flavour. Palate is fine too, but while this is a nice porter, it’s not ’wholly superior’ as the commercial description claims. Give me Fullers first, please! bpowers (24), USA Mar 7, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark dark brown/black with tan head that diminishes with noticable lacing. Aroma is of carmely and toasty malts with almost a metallic scent here and there. But wow, the taste is where its at. Im not generally a big porter fan but this blew me away. It has a very delicate and complex balance between toasted malt, bitter hops and the sweetness of the chocolate and coffee and even banana flavors. These all play off eachother and then it finishes oh so smooth with a very balanced bitterness. And to top all of this off, the mouthfeel is also great. Silky smooth without being too heavy and just the right touch of carbonation. A suprisingly drinkable porter. This is a wonderful beer, two thumbs up!
