Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours black with dark ruby highlights and small beige head. Toffee nose, rich and creamy on the tongue. Wonderful balance between roastiness and sweetness with a nice chocolate flavor and subdued hop bitterness. One of the best porters you’ll ever have.

Paors dark, almost black. Thick one finger head. Aroma of toffee and coffee. Taste of coffee cocoa. Has a disctinctive smoke taste to it. Bitter finish creeps up on you, Rich mouth feel. I rememebr this fondly from my SF days (late 90’s). Was a great beer then. Still is.

Dark black oily color. Roasted malts in the aroma. Coffee, dark chocolate malts. Balanced sweetness, licorice taste. Very balanced. Very pleasant brew, could use some more bitterness though.

AROMA: Pear banana hops accompained by cookie + burnt carmel malts. PALATE: Syrupy texture. Coffee bitter finish with legs. FLAVOR: Light floral hops up front. Bitter charcoal + coffee mid mellowing to medium toasted malts, chocolate and licorice. With a rich mocha aftertaste, this porter is a real treat, like sippin hot cocoa next to a campfire, in the woods.

Pours a dark black with a nice creamy tan head. Sweet aroma, caramel and coffe tones, toasty malt, some discernable hop. Bitter chocolate flavour with smooths out into a deep coffee and fruity raisin sweetness. Very tasty.

Anchor Porter is a dark beer with a light brown head. A slight smokey aroma is intriguing, but not very strong. With a creamy body, this beer is very smooth and very enjoyable.
