mike1977ok (633), Netherlands Jan 6, 2008 Black in colour with a thin creamy head. Aroma of dark fruit and roasted malts. Flavour is dominated by burnt, treacley malt flavours and a little smoke. Smooth silky texture and a dry but easy aftertaste make this a great beer.
Collint (452), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jan 3, 2008 12 oz bottle at The Chop House, and they chopped my wallet at $4.50 for one!! Poured small tan head. Tastes of roast mostly. The alcohol was not present compared to most porters I have had. It was alright, I can’t believe I payed that much. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jan 1, 2008 Updated: Jul 12, 200812oz bottle. Black with a small tan head. Acidic, chocolate aroma. The flavor is quite acidic and roasty with chocolate and some alcohol. Bitter, but in an odd way that I cant pinpoint. medium thickness with small carbonation. Something just isn’t clicking for me with this one; its a nice beer, and a good porter, but maybe I’m going through an anti porter stage in my life. (3.2) Rerate: Less acidity and bitterness than my last rating. Quite smooth and sweet, with plenty of chocolate flavors. I would actually like some more bitterness or roasty flavor, as the sweetness kinda runs with it. A nice porter, but by number two it gets to be a bit much in the sweet department. YodaB (10), Massachusetts, USA Dec 27, 2007 12 oz bottle: Nice and dark. Notes of coffee and chocolate. Excellent representation of a porter. Very drinkable, if somewhat heavy. junon (210), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Dec 25, 2007 Wow. Poured deep and solid black. I tried to see through it to no avail. Roasted aroma and a roasted flavor through out. Coats mouth nicely. Hides alcohol content well. Top notch choice. EDIT: Noticing a buttery after taste in this just as the Anchor Steam Beer. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Dec 24, 2007 pours black with faint ruby highlights, nice frothy tan head.roasty malty nose.roasty malty chocolate, flavors, light bitter finish on the back of the tounge.ligh carb almost creamy mouthfeel, nice beer hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Dec 23, 2007 Poured a nice large tan head. Beer was a wonderful dark that showed red with light shining through it. The aroma was this very fruity, possibly plum, and roasted malts. The flavor first hits with the fruit that you smelled, follows with a chocolate malt and finishes with the slight bitter of the hops. marano35 (22), Bay Minette, Alabama, USA Dec 20, 2007 Poured from a bottle. Has a nice dark black color with a nice foamy brown tan head. Aroma is not overwhelming. Has a nice taste of roasted malt, caramel, smoky and coffee tasting with a hint of chocolate. I likey.
