Noah26 (1), Grand Prairie, Texas, USA does not count Aug 23, 2007 I’m a porter fan but this one just doesn’t do it for me. I expect more complexity and thickness and this didn’t have much of either. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Aug 22, 2007 Pours black with just a hint of ruby highlights and a dense, creamy, tan head. On the nose are notes of: chocolate, molasses, banana bread, and roasted malt. Quite nice. Medium-bodied and oily while remaining lively on the tongue and concluding with a lightly bitter finish. The flavor is a blend of dark roasted malt, chocolate and molasses with a tight, tongue squeezingly bitter finish. A roasty molasses aftertaste lingers along with a nice hop bitterness. This is a very tasty beer. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Aug 22, 2007 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Pours black with lasting flat light brown head and lotsa lace. Aroma of roasted and chocolate and port wine. Flavors of roasted chocolate, ripe fruit with a mildly bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. A great sessionable porter. Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Aug 22, 2007 Dark brown colour, with creamy brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and sweet roasted malts. Taste is of bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Nice bitterness, and the sweetness makes it a smooth, balanced porter. Really good stuff. mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA Aug 21, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown w/ ruby highlights. 1/2" tan head w/minimal lace. At the beginning taste is of molasses and brown sugar. Towards the middle I began to pick up
an odd chalky taste, not overwhelming
, but it does detract from the brew. Finish is dry. Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Aug 20, 2007 Dark brown brew, thick creamy head. Sweet malty chocolate aroma, a bit nutty with notes of banana, sweet and inviting. Rich roasted chocolate taste, kind of reminds me of a chocolate covered banana. Smooth, dry and easy to drink. Dry bitter aftertaste. DAYtheELF (7), Seattle, Washington, USA does not count Aug 19, 2007 This was the first porter my husband and I tried and we got hooked. It has a wonderful, solid flavor with a nutty aftertatse that I love. Definately a good one to try if first starting out on porters: rich and smooth. There are better ones out there, but this one is awesome. Best on tap. RyanTHC (38), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 18, 2007 12 oz. bottle from specs. very smooth porter.. average to small head. light carbonation. chocolate and roasted malt aroma. great palate. would be a regular for me if i had access to it. anchor porter blows the anchor steam out of the water, no pun intended. well, , maybe a little
