Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Very good porter, well balanced and well made. This beer had a very pronounced raisin taste to it, which was surprisingly pleasant. I will definitely buy this beer again.

22oz bottle 4/17/09-Pours black with a decent head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of the same with a little sweetness added. This medium to full bodied brew is very well balanced and quite tasty. Great porter.

12 oz. bottle. I was looking at the list of most rated beers, and did not realize until then that despite having had this beer numerous times, I’ve never rated it. I rectified that at lunchtime today...pours black with a moderate-large light brown head that lasted until nearly the last sip and left a foamy film on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is predominantly lightly roasted malt along with just a touch of bitter chocolate. Medium bitterness at the finish. Very solid porter.

A delicious porter, smooth and silky. Not too complex, but nice and easy to drink. As refreshing as a porter can be.

354mL bottle from Beerstore.co.nz. Pours deep dark ruby/black with a nice lingering brown head.

Nice roast aromas. I get chocolate mainly, there is a wee bit of dark fruit there too.

Flavour is incredibly roasted. Full of chocolaty roast malt. It fills the mouth with a light bitterness and silky smooth texture. There is some sweetness from the roast malt, which makes this beer very balanced. Finishes with a lot of chocolate and a mild bitterness that begs another sip.
Wow, what beautifully balanced crafted porter. Full of robust flavour, very nice.
