Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Original Rating Oct 23, 2002: Mmmmmm... Anchor Porter. Cold espresso with some roasted malt added. Very fine. 9/5/8/5/18 Re-rate Aug 9, 2008: Ah early ratings... It’s about time I got back to this one. Dark brown color with a large, long lasting head. Sweet malt and lightly toasted aroma. Bitter roasted malt taste, almost astringent. A little bit of coffee and chocolate. Still a staple Porter, but nowhere near "the shit" that I originally thought this was. But who could blame me? It was one of my first real beers!

had the bottle. So sour and bitter. Like an extra dark roast coffee. I like it alot, takes some getting used to, but not many complaints about it. very very strong and dark beer.

One of the best porters I’ve had. Nice deep dark brown body with a lightish brown head. Great aroma of coffee and dark caramel malts with some hops in the background. Great smooth taste which leaves me wanting another one.

(Bottle) Pours a near black body with a medium, almond head. Faint aroma of malt and cocoa. Flavour of chocolate with molasses and creamy fruity finish. Nice.
