Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

This is a good Porter and is one of the best that you can get readily and at a good price. I like Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter more but not much. Great coffee flavor and dry roasted chocolate bean impression. I will definitely get this again.

Chocolate, coffee, and liquorice aroma. Almost black, trace of ultra violet, large creamy cappuccinno head. Roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, and liquorice flavours. Medium bodied, finely bitter, and dry. Terrific, very satisfying!

Black body with a medium tan head with medium retention and good lacing. Strong yet mellow flavours of roasted malts, rich black chocolate and coffee beans. Nothing new in the flavour spectrum except for a perfect dosage. The light fruity notes (plums mainly) know to stay in the back. The fresh herbal green hops are well integrated. Creamy yet roasted mouthfeel. Very lively carbonation. I’m not rating it as high as some of the best Imperial Somethingblack although honestly I cannot think of a stout/porter I’d like to have more often. One of the cheapest and most easily available basic stout/porter also happens to be one of my favourite!! That’s great news. Sometimes I feel like I am blessed by life… until I walk in front of a mirror...

355ml bottle (BB May07). Anchor Porter was introduced to Norwegians by Vinmonopolet in early September 05 and has since then been one of my favorite porters. Dark brown on colour. Expresso head that fades away slowly. Great lacing on the glass. Full bodied with delightful malty flavours. A powerful beer with a long, dry finish.

A terrific porter, as porters go. A touch sweet. Roasted malt is present, as it should be. Hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Cute bottle.

Dark brown, almost black with a good, lacing tan head. Delicious chocolate and roasted coffee aroma. Roasted flavours prevail, but there is good chocolatey sweetness underneath. Soft and surprising light, almost fluffy texture. Overall, a wonderfully complex porter that avoids being too heavy.

Pours a perfect very dark brown with a great light tan head. Aroma was very toasty with a great coffee smell. Taste was nice and sweet and malty, very rich with a great coffee taste. Very smooth and creamy with a only very slightly bitter end. Excellent porter
