Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours close to black with a frothy tan head. Aroma has rich chocolate malts with some roastiness and vanilla cream. Medium body with lots of smoothness and moderate carbonation. Taste starts with roasted malt with vanilla notes with some chocolate as well. Very velvety. The finish has a bit of spice and charred malt. Very nicely done porter.

Bottled. Pours an opaque blackish brown with a dense and lacy brown head. The aroma is loaded with chocolate, caramel, and smoke. The body is creamy, almost full with fine carbonation. The taste starts with some sweetness featuring coffee, chocolate, caramel, and a lingering smokey bitter finish.

bottle - Pours black with a moderate, fluffy tan head that leaves some nice lacing. The aroma features roast coffee maltiness. The flavor has the roast malt of the style with plenty of espresso and chocolate notes and a good hops balance. The body is medium to full and the finish on the dry side. Excellent porter.

Bottle: Poured a dark black color with a medium beige color head. The aroma is coffee but sweet with some hops. The taste is sweet coffee with nice hops and twists as it warmed up. Very nice old style porter.

Deep brown-black color, nice dark tan foamy, lasting head. Such a unique and full-bodied porter. Chocolate flavors with an incredible bittersweet, roasted malt finish and lingering hops. Thick and creamy. Quite satisfying.

Black with large beige head.Slight rosted aroma still mild, with note of coffee and raisin.Smooth mouth feels, but just to thin to be a great porter.
