Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bottle: Brown to black color, Medium light tan head that faded quickly. Aroma chocolate and vanilla, a fruity sweetness. Flavor, dark fruits, some roasty bitterness. Dry finish, medium bodied. Pretty nice porter.

12oz bottle from BevMo! Mission Valley. Pours deep brown almost black with a small beige head that left great lacing. Very faint aromas of caramel and toasted malt. Not much to this beer, drinkable but, overrated.

World class porter all the way! I just found out that one of my local bars has this. Dark, think palate, burnt/coffee aroma, slightly burnt chocolate flavor-nice think palate, probably the thickest porter out there.-a great porter!!!

12 oz bottle. Dark dark pour. Decent head that faded. Chocolate aromas that melded into the flavor. Porter dustiness on the finish. Pretty good for a porter.

bottle. pours a very dark brown, close to black, with nice deep ruby highlights in the bottom of the glass. I found chocolate, some roastiness, and sweetness in the aroma. Taste is light chocolate, some more predominant roast, coffee, and caramel. The finish is a nice lingering roasty and hop driven bitterness.

12 oz. bottle. I was looking at the list of most rated beers, and did not realize until then that despite having had this beer numerous times, I’ve never rated it. I rectified that at lunchtime today...pours black with a moderate-large light brown head that lasted until nearly the last sip and left a foamy film on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is predominantly lightly roasted malt along with just a touch of bitter chocolate. Medium bitterness at the finish. Very solid porter.

The first porter I ever had. Pours a deep dark brown colour with a fairly large head. very smooth and chocolatey like flavor. A nice sweet caramel finish and roasted malts.
