Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Deep deep deep brown with a milk chocolate head. Smells of delicious dark malt though not especially roasty with strong hints of chocolate. Taste is smooth chocolate which follows into a bitter finish that is more cocoa bitter than hop bitter. A fantastic porter.

Bottle at Stuff Yer Face. Pours dark with thin brown head. Faint aroma of dark roasted malt and dark fruit. One of the richest of all the porters I have had thus far. Flavor very heavy with molasses and raisens, and finishes semi dry with some mild bitterness. Damn good.

Dark (almost black) ruby color. Tan, fluffy head. Nice aroma of marshmallow and liquorice. Roasty, sweet malt-flavour. Big bitterness with an espresso-dry finish but still very smooth and drinkable.

Bottle. Nice deep brown color with just the barest hints of ruby showing when backlit. Medium lived off-white head fades down to a ring and leaves fair lacing. Deep aromas of chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied. A bit astringent. Flavors are highly roasted grain, bordering on burnt. Pleasant coffee flavor. Fairly nice coating texture. Adequate hop bitterness at the finish balances out this porter quite nicely.
