Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

12oz bottle. Dark brown hue with a spiral off-white head. Toasty, malty chocolate nose. Little cocoa and spice. Medium to full bodied. Coffee and chocolate flavors with a sweet cola fruity malt note. Delicious and toasty. Sweet and cloying. Great flavor. Amazing!

355 ml bottle. Black. Extremely big, creamy brown head. Coffee, chocolate, roasted/burnt malt, liqorice and some hoppy bitterness. Lovely «low-alcohol»-porter!

Big foamy head. Dark brown color. Faint sweet malty aroma. Nice soft mouthfeel. Spicy and a little alcoholic up front, fading to a roasty, brown sugar taste towards the end. Well crafted, I would love to have this off cask!

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Smokey and roasted malt nose with caramel and coffee notes. Medium/full body. Flavor is dominated by the roasted malt. Also notes of sweet caramel and coffee. Nice balanced finish. Very enjoyable.

This beer has a light tan head that doesn’t stick around for too long, and a very drak red-brown color. As for taste, think of dehydrated fruit covered w/ dark chocolate. I can’t say much for an aroma, I’m not picking much up even w/ the beer warmed up a bit.

Once again the anchor brewing company has crafted another fine brew. I do not usually enjoy porters, but this was a pure pleasure to drink.

Very nice aroma; sweet with strong roasted malt and some berries. Opaque body with a large, tan, creamy, rocky head. Roasted malt flavor; not too strong but smooth. Very good but not exceptional like the Liberty.
