Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours coffee black w/ a medium sized, semi creamy froth. Aroma is fruity w/ rasins. Full nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are fruity, kinda bubblegumy w/ roasted coffee bean and cocoa tar. Overall: It’s easy and full of flavor but more like bubblgum rock & roll popculture.

This beer took a while for me to appreciate, and I’m not sure why. The aroma is kind of weird--really sweet in an odd sort of way. The flavors are nice, chocolate, coffee, a touch roasted. The flavors are mild and pleasant, if the nose was nicer it would rank much higher with me.

Big bottle here for a decent price. Pours brown black with red highlights and a small fizzy head. Aroma of alcohol, sweet cherries, and brown sugar. Sweet smooth flavors, foamy chocolate, light roast, bitterness, overly sweet.

Almost opaque black with a brown cover that recedes to patchy thin. Toasty malt aroma with some roast and nondememo hops. Delicious roasty toasty flavour with considerable sweetness and contrapuntal bitterness. Watermelon, currants, raisins, marzipan. Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweet finish.

Bottle: Good nose, banana/maltball/milky. Great color, orangy/reddish brown clear yet not much light gets through. Bittersweet flavors, baking chocolate, little metallic, grapefruit. Creamy, lite oily, bitter, burnt/ grapefruit, finish. Very nice, little thicker than i think of typically for a porter. Very enjoyable.
